Evaluation results - Adult Education Academy (former Winter School) 2015

The evaluation of the Adult Education Academy 2015 showed, that the program has had the following impact on the participants:

Overall evaluation

That the Adult Education Academy 2015 had a high success is revealed by the fact that almost 100% of the participants rated it with very good or good. So it was seen as a wonderful project with good organization: "Thank you for a wonderful cooperation before the Adult Education Academy. The organizers were very practical, presenting the information in the moodle platform and answering our E-Mails. Thank you a lot!"

Personal outcomes

69.4% rated the chance to critically discuss limits and possibilities of the subject area as very good or good. So 82.3% of the participants could improve their critical competencies in a very good or good way. Nearly the same percentage (82.4%) could improve their comparative competencies, e.g. through work groups in specific topics, in the same way. Through discussions and through the possibilities to learn from other countries, cultures and traditions, 86% said that they could improve their intercultural competencies in a very good or good way. The improvement of English language competencies was rated as very good or good by 81.6% of the participants. 76.4% could raise their interest in the subject area in a very good or good way. Finally, the Adult Education Acadey helped 88.2% of the participants to develop international networks in a very good or good way. Students complimented that the "concept and the organization was very innovating and well done." The very high percentage of 97.8% rated the personal outcomes of the Adult Education Academy as very good or good. Things the participants learned in a personal way were the following: new friendships; improvement of English skills; intercultural and interpersonal aspects, perspectives, traditions and differences; socio-cultural awareness; handling of a good management; value of time management; soft skills.

 

Academic outcomes

According to the question how helpful the participants estimate different parts of the Adult Education Academy for their academic and personal development, there can be seen the following result: The Analysis of European Policies has been rated as very good or good by 72.6% of the participants. 68% saw the Field Visits as helpful in a very good or good way. Especially they pointed out the combination of Field Visits with the theoretical framework and reflection and the experience of the importance of the Field Visits to test theories. The discussion with European Stakeholders was seen as very good or good by 84.3% of the participants, so they could, for example, learn about their perspectives. The Comparative Group Work was rated as very good or good by 76.5%. In this context the interactive presentation at the end of the Adult Education Academy is to be highlighted, according to the participants. A very high percentage (92.2%) found that the Adult Education Academy was helpful in a very good or good way to develop a network with other international students. 88% of the participants found that the academic outcomes of the Adult Education Academy was very good or good. In particular they mentioned the following things they learned about: quality system in the USA; general educational aspects of India; functioning of EAEA; different policy models and approaches to analyze Adult Education institutions and structures; international view on Adult Education; strategies of research and teaching; presenting and discussing in English; terminology and proper use of expressions; opening new perspectives.

 

Relevance of the program for further career

The participation in the Adult Education Academy was seen as helpful for their further studies in a very good or good way by 92.1% of the participants due to the chance to publish an article, the opportunity to build a new network for studies and work and the possibility to gather ideas for research fields for the dissertation. For their further career 84% of the participants found that the Adult Education Academy was helpful in a very good or good way. In this context they mentioned for example the possibility to get in contact with different institutions.

 

Teaching methods and cultural programme

The teaching methods and techniques of learning were seen as helpful in a very good or good way for the learning process by 80% of the participants. So they got practice in observation or learned about the relation between theory and practice. The learning environment was rated as very good or good with 92%. This is also revealed by the high percentage of 91.1% who have seen the overall quality of teaching as very good or good. Furthermore, the cultural activities have been rated as very good or good by 80% of the participants. Highlights were the guided tour through the residence and the wine tasting.
