Prof. Licínio C. Lima, University of Minho
Licínio C. Lima is Full Professor of Sociology of Education and Educational Administration at the Department of Social Sciences of Education at the University of Minho. There he was Head of Department (1998-2004), Head of the Unit for Adult Education (1984-2004), Director of the Research Centre for Education and Psychology (1994-1997) and Director of the Ph.D. in Education. Various European and Brazilian universities hosted him as guest professor. He also is author of many academic works published in thirteen countries and six languages, including more than thirty books.
Licíno Lima and Paula Guimarães are the authors of the study guide ‘European Strategies in Lifelong Learning: A Critical Introduction’, which will serve as the key text for the Intensive Programme. Prof. Lima looks at education policy from a critical sociological perspective, whereas Prof. Guimarães works on education policy from an educational perspective. The two colleagues will frame the intensive phase by providing theoretical concepts for analysing international strategies of lifelong learning and their impact on European institutions and adult education practice. The other colleagues will frame these theories by a broad, multidisciplinary perspective on lifelong learning.
Prof. Paula Guimarães, University of Lisbon
Paula Guimarães received her PhD in Educational Sciences (Educational Policy) in 2011. She has been working as an Assistant Professor of the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon since January 2012. She lectures themes concerning Adult Education. She is involved in research projects as a member of teams led by Senior Researchers in the field of Adult Education. Paula Guimarães was executive responsible for research projects implemented at the Unit for Adult Education of The University of Minho. She was in charge of training programmes devoted to adult educators. She was a trainer in these programmes. She was Vice‐president of the European Society for Research on the Education of Adults (ESREA) and co‐convenor of the ESREA network Adult Democratic and Citizenship Education.
Prof. Balázs Németh, University of Pécs
Balázs Németh, PhD (45) is a researcher on European adult and lifelong learning policy development and comparative adult education. He is an associate professor and reader in Adult and Lifelong Learning at the University of Pécs and leads the Regional Lifelong Learning Research Centre of his University. Balázs Németh is a advisory board member of PASCAL Observatory and a member of the Adult Education Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is also a founding member of the Hungarian Universities Lifelong Learning Network (MELLearN) and represents the University of Pécs in the European Universities Continuing Education Network (EUCEN) and in the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA). Dr. Németh has so far participated several EU-funded comparative surveys on adult learning policies, quality development of adult learning (in partnership with Panteia) and on roles and missions of higher education to open towards adult learners (in partnership with DIE-Bonn).Also, Dr. Németh has joined a number of adult education (Grundtvig) and VET-related (Leonardo da Vinci) projects on learning city-region developments, trainings for adult educators, Development of VET for students with learnnig difficulties, quality development of VET with SPEAK model.

Prof. Vanna Boffo, University of Florence
Vanna Boffo will be responsible for the perspective of early childhood education and relationships between Child and Adult Parents/Educators. Moreover, she has extensive expertise in educational philosophy. She deals with care and interpersonal relations in school and work contexts.
Vanna Boffo is tenured Researcher at the Department of Education and Psychology, University of Florence, since 2007. She is Professor Agrégée of General Pedagogy and Educational Research Methodology. She is the Coordinator of the EMAE Curriculum at the University of Florence where she is Tutor for teaching and for the Internship in the Degree Program in Adult Education, Lifelong Learning and Pedagogical Sciences. She is part of the Ph.D Council of the Doctorate Course of Sciences of Education (University of Florence) from 2008. She is Delegate of Guidance and Job Placement of the Department of Education and Psychology in University of Florence from 2008. In 2003 she obtained Ph.D. in “Theory and History of Educational Processes”, with a dissertation on “The Conversation in Family. Family Education and Communication”. Among her latest publications: Relazioni educative: tra comunicazione e cura (2011), A Glance at Work. Educational Perspectives (ed. 2012).
Prof. Regina Egetenmeyer, University of Würzburg
Regina Egetenmeyer works on questions of lifelong learning, informal learning, and professionalization in adult education and mobility for learning purposes. She has done several internationally comparative studies with a focus on both Europe and Asia.
Regina Egetenmeyer earned her PhD from the University of Duisburg-Essen, conducting a comparative study on informal learning at the workplace in three different countries. She worked as a research fellow at the University of Duisburg-Essen at the Chair of Adult Education (Prof. Nuissl von Rein) and at the German Institute for Adult Education. In 2010 she became a professor of lifelong learning at the University of Mainz (Juniorprofessur). Since 2013 she holds the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education at the University of Würzburg. Her research emphasis are on internationally comparative research in adult and lifelong learning. She has provided scientific support to European development projects with a focus on comparative issues. A further focus of her research is on informal learning and lifelong learning.
Prof. Hans-Joachim Petsch, University of Würzburg
Prof. Petsch earned his PhD from the University of Würzburg. His reseach emphasis is in questions of theory and practical use on non vocational education, vocational training, coaching, supervision and lifelong learning. For many years he was renowned director of the Rudolf-Alexander-Schröder Haus in Würzburg. Today he is honorary professor for the University of Würzburg.
Prof. Sabine Schmidt-Lauff, Technische Universität Chemnitz
Sabine Schmidt-Lauff has carried out diverse policy analysis on lifelong learning and is an expert on learning times for lifelong learning.
Sabine Schmidt-Lauff did her PhD studies at University of Hamburg with a study on collaboration on vocational training and professionalization in Adult Education. In 2008 she accepted a professorship for Adult and Continuing Education at Technical University of Chemnitz. Sabine Schmidt-Lauff’s research emphasis lay on question of professionalization and professionalism, Continuing and Vocational training, international-comparative research in lifelong learning, time and Bildung. A focus of her research lays on questions of learning and adulthood such as learning in companies. Since several years she is working on questions of professionalisation of adult and continuing education.
Dr. Erik Haberzeth, Technische Universität Chemnitz
Erik Haberzeth was with the Chair of Adult Education at the University of Hamburg where he received his PhD in 2010. He then worked as a research fellow at the Technical University of Braunschweig. With the Humboldt-Universität of Berlin he was involved in a research project for the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research on the effects of national adult learning programs. Since August Erik Haberzeth is Research Associate at the Technische Universität Chemnitz.
