During the summer semester 2026, initial teacher education students at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg developed lesson designs on media education and implemented them as part of a media education project at Eichendorff Secondary School (Mittelschule) in Gerbrunn. The project built on the successful practical cooperation with secondary schools (Realschulen) in Lower Franconia and contributed to the further dissemination of media education in school practice.

To prepare for the implementation of media education lesson designs at secondary schools (Realschulen) in Lower Franconia during the summer semester 2026, iBdB Roman Kruse visited advanced courses in school pedagogy in the Media Education and Educational Technology Lab (MEET@JMU) at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg. The visit focused on a technical introduction to virtual reality technologies and an exchange on their use in educational settings.

On March 5, as part of the professional development day for mentor teachers at primary and secondary schools (Mittelschulen) in Lower Franconia, a workshop titled “Media Education on AI in Secondary Education – A Dialogue on Opportunities and Challenges” was held. Organized by Samuel Ruckdeschel, a research assistant and doctoral candidate at the Chair of School Pedagogy, and secondary school teacher Sigrun Ebeling, the dialogue provided an opportunity to discuss key issues surrounding media education and the use of artificial intelligence in everyday school life.

At the International Technology, Education and Development Conference (INTED) 2026 in Valencia, Tamara Baumann presented research findings on international perspectives on media education. The results were discussed with an international audience as part of a poster presentation.
