As part of a cooperation between the Chair of School Pedagogy and the Office of the Ministerial Representative for Secondary Schools (Realschulen) in Lower Franconia, initial teacher education students participating in an advanced course in school pedagogy explored innovative media such as Virtual Reality as well as various aspects of media education during the summer semester 2026. The aim of the course was to develop lesson designs on learning about media using exemplary topics and to implement them in practice.

During the summer semester 2026, the developed lesson designs were implemented at two secondary schools (Realschulen) in Würzburg. The pilot implementations took place on 15 June 2026 at David-Schuster-Realschule and on 18 June 2026 at Jakob-Stoll-Realschule. The lessons were conducted with students from grades 7 and 8.

The seminar was led by Tamara Baumann, research assistant and PhD candidate at the Chair of School Pedagogy, with support from Roman Kruse, Information Technology Advisor for Digital Education (iBdB) for Secondary Schools in Lower Franconia. The implementation days were also attended by Ministerial Representative Ltd. RSD Marcus Ramsteiner and Chair Holder Professor Dr. Silke Grafe.
