2020 - Online-Seminar

Contemporary Issues in Adult Education from Nigerian and German perspectives

Due to the current situation with Covid-19, the planned Summer School could not take place in Lagos in 2020. In order to ensure the planned cooperation and cultural exchange between students from Nigeria and Germany, a weekly online-seminar was held from 6.October – 17. November 2020. Up to 30 participants met every Tuesday for three hours on the online platform Zoom to discuss “Contemporary Issues in Adult Education from Nigerian and German perspectives”. As a preparation for the course, the professors involved in the project InterAAECT provided videos on the current topics. The online-seminar comprised inputs by the professors, the reading of current articles, group work on the various topics and lively discussions. Below, you can find reflections by some of the participating students.

„Personally, I am bold to say that I have learnt a great deal from the online course. I have been able to learn a new attitude towards learning from the engagement with other participants from different cultural background. More importantly, I learnt from the Germany’s perspective of Adult and Continuing Education practice and delivery.“
(Oyekunle Yinusa, PhD student, University of Lagos, Nigeria)

„Couple of months ago, when I signed my Learning Agreement, I was not expecting I will be so much enriched in adult education area. It has given me really a lot.“

„What was new to me is that this is my first time to participate in a zoom seminar meeting. It was quite interesting seeing people live from various universities especially the people from Germany. I really learnt new ideas from the room grouping session.“
