A New Passage To India

The Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education is project partner of the Indian mobility programme of the JMU India Center and is part of the programme "A New Passage to India" (2015-2017) which is financed by the DAAD. The main focus is on international comparative researches of phenomena in adult and continuing education in Germany and India. The doctrine emphasizes research-oriented models

Winter Term 2017/18

Guest stay: Prof. Vandana Chakrabarti and Dr. Anita Priyadarshini

In December 2017 were Prof. Vandana Chakrabarti and Dr. Anita Priyadarshini guests at JMU. Prof. Chakrabarti is a lecturer at the SNDT Women's University in Mumbai and Dr. Priyadarshini at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in New Delhi.

All together did they give three guest lectures here in Würzburg:

  • Skill development for adults: Indian experience (18. December 2017, 14:00-16:00)
  • Lifelong Learning in India - Prof. Chakrabarti (19. December 2017, 11:00-12:00)
  • Open and Distance Learning System in India - Dr. Priyadarshini (21. December 2017, 10:00-12:00)

Summer semester 2017

Visiting Prof. Mandkini Pant

Prof. Mandkini Pant was a guest in Würzburg from the 14th June till the 19th July. She gave a Seminar on "Adult Education and Empowerment of Marginalised Women in India". Dr. Mandkini Pant is a Professor at the International Institute of Adult and Lifelong Education in Delhi, Indien. 

Winter semester 2016/17

Participation of seven Master-, M.Phil. and Promotionstudents at the Winter School 2017

Seven Master-, M.Phil.- and Promotionstudents from Delhi joined the international Winter School "Comparative Studies in Adult Education and Lifelong Learning".

Visiting Prof. Reddy, Indira Gandhi Open National University (IGNOU), New Delhi, Indien

Prof. Reddy was a Co-Moderator at the international Winter School "Comparative Studies in Adult Education and Lifelong Learning" in the Comparative Group "Lifelong learning OECD Policies vs. national adult education policies". On the 14th of February did he hold a public lecture on "Basic Cosmic Education for Global Adults".

 

Visiting Prof. S.Y. Shah, International Instiute for Adult Learning and Education (IIALE), New Delhi, Indien

From 01.11.16 to 02.12.16 Prof. S. Y. Shah (IIALE Delhi) will be a guest lecturer at the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education.

Winter semester 2015/16

Würzburg-Visit of eleven students from New Delhi

In the context of the Winter School "Comparative Studies in Adult and Lifelong Learning" did eleven students from the University of Delhi recieve the chance to participate. Prof. JP Dubey from the Delhi University accompanied the students. The stay was financed by the JMU India Centre.

Guest stay of Shalini Singh, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India

Shalini Singh, PhD-Student at the JNU Delhi, was a guest in Würzburg from the 17th of November 2015 till the 15th of February 2016. 

 

Prof. Rajesh, University of Delhi, India

From 18.10.2015 - 31.10.2015 Prof. Rajesh (University of Delhi) was a guest lecturer at the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education.

Prof. Rajesh will hold the seminar "Innovations and Opportunities to the Marginalized Groups in India: Sharing Community Learning Centre in Higher Education".

Summer semester 2015

Field Trip to India

From the 9th till the 19th of September 2015 did seven Würzburger students travel to Delhi, India. They visited different scientific institutions and adult education activities in adult education and continuing education (for example: the International Institute of Adult and Continuing Education, University of Delhi). Further did the students attend a Workshop together with the Indian students. Goal was to give an overview into the scientific discourse and the Praxis of adult education in Delhi, especially with the Focus on women as a target Group of adult education. 

 

 

Guest stay of Dr. Bani Bora, University Delhi, India

In June 2015 was Dr. Bani Bora from the University Delhi a shorttime lecturer at JMU. Dr. Bora researches to Empowerment of women in India. Her stay was financed through the JMU India Centre. She offered a Course for Masterstudents: Empowerment of women through lifelong learning (06-BM-2S2)

Winter semester 2014/15

Würzburg-Visit of nine students from India

In the context of the Winter School "Comparative Studies in Adult and Lifelong Learning" did nine students from the University of Delhi and the Jawaharlal University recieve the chance to participate. Prof. Rajesh from the University of Delhi and Prof. Kumar from JNU accompanied the students. The stay of our Indian Partners, from the 26th of January till the 7th of February 2015 was financed by the JMU India Centre.

 

Prof. Ajay Kumar, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India

Prof. Kumar accompanied a Group of indian students and moderated together with Dr. Erik Haberzeth the Comparative Group Work "Adult Learning and Adult Education Partizipation"  in context of the Winter School. Further did he give a public lecture on Vortrag zu "Development Education in India".

Ajay Kumar is assistant Professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University where he researches to Development Education, Citizenship education and adult education.

Chetan B. Singai stayed from the 19th January till the 13th February 2015 in Würzburg, which was financed by the JMU India Centre (DAAD-Programm "A New Passage to India").

Researchproject in India from four Masterstudents (JMU)

Four Masterstudents stayed for two month in India in context of their their reasearch Project (Forschungsaufenthalt in Indien). Their stay was financed by the JMU India Centre.

Winter semester 2013/14

Guest stay of Chetan Singai, M. Phil., National Institute of Advanced Studies Bangalore, India

Chetan B. Singai visited JMU in February 2014 in context of the Winter School "Comparative Strategies in International and European Strategies of Lifelong Learning" . His stay was financed by the JMU India Centre (DAAD-Programm "A New Passage to India").

 

Prof. S. Y. Shah, Jawaharlal University, Indien

Prof. Shah von der Jawahrlal Neru University in New Delhi was a DAAD-guestlecturer from 15. October 2013 till 15. January 2014 in Würzburg. He is one of the most internationally renowned Indian Scientists in the field of adult education and continuing education. He is director of the International Institute for Adult Education in New Delhi.

He offered three Seminars:
