Announcement Guest Professorship Prof. Dr. Paula Guimarães during the winter term 2020/2021
We are pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Paula Guimarães (University of Lisbon, Portugal) will stay at the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education at JMU during the winter semester 2020/2021.
Prof. Guimarães is an internationally recognized colleague and an expert in the field of critical-theoretical analysis of international educational policy. Thanks to her involvement in European research projects for decades, Prof. Guimarães is enabling students to gain an insight into the diversity and heterogeneity of the European adult and continuing education landscape.
She will offer three different seminars on urgent issues in international adult education and research. Thematically, these include a dialogue on the contribution of international governmental organizations, a discussion on the diverse area of adult education and a critical debate on the link between development and adult learning.
Additionally, Prof. Guimarães will organize an online workshop on 28th October 2020 on the topic “Is there still room for emancipatory adult learning and education? Discussing a promising idea facing several challenges” which will be announced separately via the homepage of the professorship (https://www.paedagogik.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/erwachsenenbildung) and other channels.
Furthermore, she will give a guest lecture on the following topic: “Under the influence of European Union guidelines: advances and setbacks of adult learning and education in Portugal since 2000” which will take place on 7th December 2020 via Zoom.
