Application Process and Required Documents

Apply online via our WueStudy portal:

  • Please apply for the “MA 1-HF Adult Education and Management in Lifelong Education HF konsek.Ma. (2026)” option for the full-time programme (4 semesters).
You may alternatively apply for the “MA 1-HF Adult Education and Management in Lifelong Education HF Teilzeit (2026)” option for the part-time programme (8 semesters). Please consult with the visa authorities for implications of part-time programmes for your student visa!
  • Please also note the FAQs and Video Tutorials for applicants mentioned on WueStudy.

The admissions committee processes applications on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply as soon as you have all the necessary documents ready, especially to facilitate timely visa processing.
Please note that we receive several hundred applications for each intake, so processing may take several weeks or, in some cases, even longer.

Required documents for your application:

  • CV (include any non-formal qualifications that are relevant to (adult) education in one PDF file)
  • Secondary/high school leaving certificate
  • Bachelor's degree certificate
  • Bachelor's transcript of records
  • Bachelor's diploma supplement or grading system (may be included with your transcript of records)
  • (optional: any additional Master's / PhD degree certificates and transcripts to supplement your application)
  • Proof of English language proficiency (level B2 CEFR or equivalent, see below)
  • for applicants with university degrees from a non-EU/EEA country: we require a preliminary review documentation (VPD) from uni-assist to process your application. Apply for a VPD for Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg - Master (Alle Fächer) on the homepage of uni-assist and include it in your application on WueStudy. As the issuance of the VPD can take some time, we highly recommend sending the necessary documents to uni-assist very early. Please contact uni-assist directly in case of questions.

Translation requirements: All documents must be provided in the original language along with an English or German translation (unless the original document is already issued in English/German). Certified translations by persons or institutions authorised to make translations under oath or admissible in court (publicly appointed and sworn translators) are required and need to be properly legalised, e.g. by a notary in your home country (with Apostille stamp), a German embassy/consulate in your home country or a sworn translator in Germany. Non-certified translations are not accepted.

Please ensure that you submit all required documents as listed above. Applications with missing, defective, low-quality, or seemingly inauthentic documents (e.g., poor scans, unofficial translations or inconsistencies in personal data) cannot be processed.

FAQs

Admission is only possible if you satisfy all admission criteria (listed on this website, scroll down).

If you are unsure whether you meet the admission requirements, please contact us at master-education@uni-wuerzburg.de. We will be happy to provide guidance based on the documents you submit with your email (transcripts, certificates, and CV).

Please note: Any advice provided is for informational purposes only and is not legally binding. Only the Admissions Committee can make binding decisions on admission, and this is exclusively based on an officially submitted application via our WueStudy portal. Pre-assessments are not possible.

No, provisional admission is not possible in this case: The minimum requirement of 40 ECTS in educational/pedagogical areas must be fully met at the time of application.

If you lack this background, we recommend acquiring formal pedagogical education by completing relevant courses or modules at a university. These do not need to lead to a full degree, but you must provide a university transcript of records as proof. For example, you could:

  • Enrol in a modular study programme, e.g., in our German-language Bachelor's programme in Education/Pädagogik at the University of Würzburg: Module Studies. If you have questions regarding studying in this programme, feel free to reach out to the Student Advisors for the Bachelor's in Education or the Central Student Advisory Service for general questions about module studies at the University of Würzburg.
  • Take similar courses at another university to gain the required credits.

Please note: The University of Würzburg does not offer an English-language preparatory or module-based programme to prepare for this Master's. The Bachelor's programme in Education and its modular study option are taught in German only.

Admission to our program is valid only for the specific intake you applied for. Unfortunately, late enrollment or deferral of admission is not possible.

If you are unable to enroll for the current intake, you will need to reapply for the next available intake. The admissions committee will then evaluate your application for the upcoming intake.

Applying to our program directly via uni-assist is not possible.

Non-EU/EEA applicants must:

  1. Obtain a VPD (Preliminary Review Documentation) for Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg - Master (Alle Fächer) from uni-assist.
  2. Then submit their application through our WueStudy portal.

No, this is unfortunately not possible. Please obtain a VPD specifically for Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg - Master (Alle Fächer).

If you encounter an issue with the WueStudy platform, please first check the WueStudy FAQ for common questions, such as password resets.

If your issue is not addressed there, please contact the WueStudy support team directly at wuestudy@uni-wuerzburg.de.

Admission letters are generated automatically based on the data you entered during your application on WueStudy.

If you provided incorrect information during your application, please contact Student Affairs at international.students@uni-wuerzburg.de to request a correction. Be sure to include your applicant number and the specific details that need to be updated. You may be asked to submit a copy of your passport or ID to verify the correct information.

Once you have been admitted to the programme, you will need to enrol as a student at the university. Please visit the Student Affairs website for a list of the required documents for enrolment.

University of Würzburg will need to verify your health insurance coverage. For more information about the health insurance requirements for students, please visit the website of the Office of Student Affairs.

--> Grades are converted to the German grading system using the "Bavarian formula", JMU details here.

In this case, please include a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate with your application or make sure the language of instruction is stated on your degree's official documents.
  • Abitur: For applicants with a German university entrance qualification (Abitur), an English grade of at least 7 out of 15 points is required.
