Using Appreciative Inquiry as Theoretical Framework for Comparative Research
The workshop essentially seeks to build capacities and discuss opportunities for Appreciative Inquiry (AI) as a comparative research tool, especially for comparative research in Adult Education. The 4-D and 5-D models of AI will be discussed along with case studies and evidence from empirical studies. These models will be the basis for discovering step-by-step processes of using AI for inquiry purposes.
At the end of the workshop, the participants who attend the entire session will be able to:
• Provide at least one scholarly definition of Appreciative Inquiry (AI)
• Share the key principles of AI
• Explain the meanings of the 4Ds and 5Ds AI frameworks
• Describe how AI can be used as a theoretical or/and a methodological framework, especially for comparative Adult Education research
The workshop activities will include discussions and group activities involving using AI as a research tool.
