The Programme at a Glance
Our Master’s Programme in Adult Education and Management in Lifelong Learning is designed for students and practitioners with a bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS) and a foundation in educational studies amounting to at least 40 ECTS credits. For detailed information on admission requirements and the application process, please refer to our website.
Language Requirements
The programme offers modules taught in English, making it accessible to individuals with limited German proficiency. Applicants are required to have at least B2-level English skills. German language skills can be acquired in the "Compulsory Electives" module.
Programme Format
All courses are conducted on-campus in Würzburg, providing a vibrant, in-person learning environment. While it is encouraged for students to relocate to Würzburg, those unable to do so should ensure their participation in the designated on-campus intensive weeks to fully engage with the programme. A significant portion of the courses is also delivered in a hybrid format, enabling remote online learning. For more details about the available courses, please visit the Study Structure page.
On-Campus Intensive Weeks
We strongly recommend attending intensive weeks held (semi-)annually in Würzburg. Please find the exact dates for these weeks at the beginning of the page under "Dates".
These weeks provide opportunities to connect with peers, faculty, and practitioners, as well as to explore the campus and city:
- First two Semester Weeks: Recommended for newcomers to familiarize themselves with the campus (e.g., library, seminar buildings) and Würzburg.
- Adult Education Academy: Held annually in February each year, this event is a highlight of the programme. In 2026, it will run from February 2–13. The academy fosters networking with other students, practitioners, and professors, and includes visits to adult education and lifelong learning institutions in Würzburg and the surrounding region. More details about the Adult Education Academy are available on our website.
Double-Degree Options
In addition to the general degree programme, there is also the option of completing a double degree with the University of Padua (Double Degree in Management of Educational Services, Adult and Continuing Education). Should you opt to pursue this option, the second semester can be completed at the University in Padua.
Further information about the double degree option with Padua can be found here.
We anticipate presenting additional double-degree options by autumn 2025.
Visa Information for Non-EU Applicants
Non-EU applicants are strongly advised to schedule a visa appointment as early as possible to ensure timely processing. Further information about the visa process is available on the website of the German Foreign Office . Additionally, external resources (like MyGermanUniversity) can provide helpful step-by-step guides on Student Visas and Blocked Accounts.
