The collection of the Research Centre for Historical Visual Media offers an impressive documentation of the history of school wallcharts in the German-speaking world from 1840 to 1990. The pictures cover various school subjects: From Religious Education to Geography, from History to Astronomy. Because of the wide spectrum, the Research Centre for Historical Visual Media offers resource material for interdisciplinary research projects.
The school wallchart’s archive is housed in an area of more than 400m². The rolled and flat wallcharts are stored in a large room in the former Elementary School located on the Campus Hubland Nord (Emil-Fischer-Str. 62). This offers an impressive image for the visitor.
It is possible to visit the collection of historical school wallcharts at the University of Würzburg which represents the European intellectual and cultural history in a special way, by arrangement.
